5 Ways to Stay Safe During the Holidays
Around the holidays, this becomes a dangerous and often deadly series of risk factors. Not only do people drink more, but there are more cars out on the road, more people driving late at night, and, during the Christmas season, in bad weather. As a personal injury lawyer who’s witnessed many accidents around New Years’ Eve, I’d like to prevent you from becoming my next accident victim client and offer some tips to make sure you remain safe during the holidays.
- If you are going to a party where you know you’ll be drinking, take an Uber to and from the party.
Also AAA even has a holiday-safe-rides program where they will drive you 7 miles for free.
- Before you head out, check out the traffic on the Sigalert.com app. This app reports traffic incidents, shows the current speed on a road and offers personalized route creation.
- Be prepared: Download my app here where you can store information you’ll need in case of an emergency.
- Iin many states, you could be held liable for damage caused by a driver who leaves your party. If you are hosting a party, stop serving alcohol at least one hour before the party ends. And don’t let anyone who is drunk drive home.
- Serve plenty of food. If you’re staying up until midnight, expect lots of snacking to take place throughout the evening. A well-stocked menu of food and non-alcoholic drinks will not only keep your guests happy. It can also help counter the effects of the alcohol.
Wishing you a happy and SAFE New Year!
